My Raya Open House 2008

Some photos from my open house 2008, held on Deepavali holiday. More on my FB. I hosted a session of open house for my cousins just the day before. So this year, I actually hosted a 2-day, 2-night feast! Sakan betul! hehe... Not to mention a cooking and makan session before that when my Hubby was still at home for a few friends and families a week before that. Am I a kitchen goddess or what? hahahahaha!

Thanks to all who made it. On the open house day itself, my Mum was the great life saver because she actually had to recook the curry mee three times because it was such a hit amongst guests. Last2 sampai santan pun dah habis, so we had to resort to beehoon soup! haha..

I mean, is it too difficult to reply to an invitation? As a courtesy to the host/hostess so that they can budget how much food to prepare? And don't tell me that you do not know what plans you will have on the day, especially if you are going to 'balik kampung'. You don't plan your balik kampung (especially the long distance ones), is it? Why must you wait until the event is over only you'd send the apology sms saying that you balik kampung?

For me, when friends invite me to a certain event, it means that they still remember me. And as a gesture of gratitude for their thoughts, I would try my best to fulfill the invitation. Especially if it's a mean of meeting old friends whom I have never met or heard about in such a long time! What is petrol or toll prices or even distance compared to once in a while meetings? It is not that you do this every single day of your life, kan?

But then again, it's just me. I just don't throw away old friends just as I get new ones..And I also do not ditch my friends when I have already got a family of my own..

Down Memory Lane

I invited Nis@ for a sleepover at my house yesterday, and since today she got something to do @ Seremban, I decided to accompany her. After she finished her thing, we had a quick lunch and then went straight to TKC, which we have left for 13 years already.

The last time I stepped into college was for the English Drama somewhere in 2004 (was it?) Ly-D masa tu tengah preggie with kakak Kya. Betul ke 2004 Ly-D? Tapi masa tu tak sempat rendezvous ke mana-mana sebab dah malam and budak2 kolej pun ada so mana boleh kacau kan?

But this time, it was the school holidays. The security guard was kind enough to let us in when I told her that we want to visit. Stumbled upon Pn Hawa, our chemistry teacher during form 5 (was it form 4 also? Couldn't recall lah) The best thing was, I forgot her name! And the subject that she tought us? Sungguh kurang ajar rasanya..hehe.. After some time and a few minutes chat with her, baru lah ingat. and she also remembers my name (mungkin sebab nama pelik) and also the other star students during our time (not that I was a star student la kan..huhu...). According to her, this year's SPM results was bad, although TKC was still among the top 10 schools, but it was still bad. And she was clearly disappointed. Cian cikgu. And was surprised that Cikgu Ahmad is still teaching there, along with Ustazah Habibah, Pn Yusma, Mr Tan and a few others yang we could still recall.

And since no students were around, we took the time to explore college and what happened to it after we were long gone..hehe.. Paling significant, ampaian dah ada bumbung and berlantai marble, so takde la baju2 kotor kalau terjatuh and tak lah basah kalau hujan. Showers semua dah berpintu and ada cabinet dlm shower utk letak toiletries masa mandi. No more curtains, ok? I don't know where 2K and 2N were relocated. Yang pastinya there were no longer at the form 2 block. Public phones pun dah bersepah-sepah so takde la nak beratur panjang untuk bergayuts..hehe..

In block G, no more compartments kat katil. Lantai pun semua marble, takde la hanya cement macam masa dolu2. All lockers kayu dah berganti dengan lockers besi. Wardrobe yang besar kat depan dorm tempat menyorok masa prefects datang check pun dah takde. And ada new dorm nama Heliconia ka block G Siti Zawiah. Surau pun fully air-conditioned (kalau tak gi surau gak tak tau la ek? hehe...) Kat dining hall pun takde table leaders dah..Maybe sebab semua sekarang takde kasta kut..hehe..

Oh ya..Kolam kat Taman Sains yang penuh algae tu dah takde..keke..

Leave you with some photos which we took while reminiscing the past. Missed college life and how easy it was back then... huhu...

Hari yang Letih

I walked a few kilometers today. Seriously!

The day started relatively early since I was supposed to attend a training on a software that I hope to sell to a new lab setup in a certain Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi. But I was informed at the very last minute to attend another meeting with Tan Sri for another project. We have been counting the days for this project to materialize, so I had no choice but to attend the meeting with Tan Sri.

It was just horrible to get into KL that morning that I had to drive around KL for 3 times trying to find the way to get inside and try to be at the meeting by 9.30am. Finally managed to get through but the meeting had already started when I got there. Lucky that another partner was there to hear the briefing, and I managed to join in later when they took a breather.

Then we needed to walk to another building because Tan Sri's company just moved there to have a one-to-one meeting with the person in-charge. It was about 1km walking distance to go to the other buiding. When the meeting was over, we had to walk back to the old building to take the car. Was charged RM18 for the parking. I agreed to send my partner back to his office at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng and then head straight to the other meeting that I needed to abandon earlier.

Just as we were about to reach KLCC, the person that we met just now called and asked us to return to his office because apparently he said his superior wanted to see us. No choice, so we had to turn around. This time we parked the car at the new building. But alas! When we got up, we were told that his superior wanted to meet us at the old building! Kena jalan jugak! hehe..

When we reached at the meeting place, the Boss was still in a meeting with Tan Sri, so as usual we had to wait. Then came lunch time, so we were told that the meeting will take place after lunch. Had a quick lunch downstairs, and then waited for our turn to meet with the Boss. When we cam back up, the Boss said, "Let's have the meetings at my new office ok?" Huh? So menapak la kitorang lagi to the new building..

After an eternity of waiting, and when it was just about our turn to 'mengadap' the Boss said, "Sorry la..Saya dah penat sangat ni. (To his staff that we had met earlier), You settlekan la dengan yang tinggal ni ya?" Duh! And we waited the whole day for nothing? Hai sabar je lah...Nasib baik la memang tunggu this project to materialize je, so no choice but to play their game lah. And lucky that the other party in the meeting that I was supposed to attend understood my situation and didn't mind that I didn't turn up for their meeting.

This time we were charged RM28 for the parking. Duh?

Chinese New Year Holiday

Ya, ya... I know it's very late, but I just didn't have the will power to update this blog.

We actually had a great Chinese New Year holiday this year. It involved a lot of travelling (and eating) in the span of 3 days.

Wong Fei Hung in action:

First day of CNY, as usual, we headed down south for our "makan besar" gathering with the Chinese clan. The traffic was quite bad at certain unusual places, and we reached Ayer Keroh at about 4pm. After the customary limau, kacang and keropok eating session, we went to a Chinese restaurant for a 6-course lunch cum dinner.

Banyaknya melantak.. hehe..

After the meal was over, we started our journey back to Abah's hometown in Kulai, Johor. But not before taking the opportunity to take photos with the lion! (Courtesy of my 2 handsome cousins)

We reached Nenek's house at about 9.30pm. Makan lagi! Then, terus pengsan for the rest of the night. Oh ya! I drove all the way, y'know!

The next afternoon, I had to go to JB to pass something to a client. The whole clan plus Nenek and Tok Mok tagged along. We then visited our Noyang's cemetary at Tampoi before stopping for a short while at Danga Bay. No stroller, and Daniel refused to walk on his own equalled tak larat nak jalan jauh-jauh.

On the day that we were supposed to go back to KL (Saturday), Nenek asked us to join her to attend a wedding of a distant relative of my late grandfather. We didn't really know them, but since Nenek insisted, we went along.

So, apa lagi? Macam pacat lah. Lepas makan terus blah...hehe...Tapi sempatlah berkenal-kenalan and bergambar dengan sedara mara yang tak dikenali.

Daniel boring tunggu bila nak balik?

On the way back to KL, we made a pit stop at Ayer Itam. Shopping time! Yeahoo!

Daniel on the way to Ayer Itam

Membeli, memborong dengan dahsyatnya sampai dua kereta pun tak muat. Nasib baik dah penuh and jauh lagi perjalanan. Kalau tidak, mau sambung lagi shopping!

We reached Klang at about 10pm. Rushed to my bro-in-law house to send him, my sis and daughter back and also for a makan-makan session (again?) in conjunction with BIL's mother's birthday. After makan, we again became pacats and sped up to my new PH house to unload all the stuffs that I bought in Ayer Itam and also the many, many plants that Mak and Abah took from Nenek's garden in the kampung.

Satisfying (the shopping and eating parts) although tiring (travelling and driving parts). Only wished that we could explore more of Danga Bay. The traditional houses there were really nice. Next time must go there again with Hubby and Daniel.

Hari Ini Saya Terkejut..

Today is Hari Wilayah. It's an official public holiday in KL, Putrajaya and Labuan (as if you all didn't already know). And although today is a public holiday in KL, I still had to attend a training session in UTM KL. What made it such a great day was the traffic was clear! Sungguh tidak tension memandu di KL pada hari ini..muehehehe..

Anyway, back to why I was stumped just now. There were two trainers conducting the training. One of them was my colleague from old office, and another was the new staff they hired to replace me (initially planned to take care of sales operation in KL but the plan was cancelled and he was asked to remain in Penang).

My colleague from old office had just finished her session and passed the floor to this new guy (he had been with the company for 8 months now). We were chatting at the back of the room while he was delivering the speech in front of the other audience. I was asking my friend on how to choose good quality Mandarin oranges from the different types of cartons they come in and she was about to reply when we heard a loud thud in front.

There it was! The new chap had fell flat onto the floor without any warning! All of us rushed forward to see what happened to him and I had all kinds of pictures inside my head. Had he suffered a heart attack? Did he faint? Was he having a seizure? Did he bump his head to the desks in front of him? Panic woo!

Apparently everyone of us had never encountered such incident so everybody was stunned. Then, I asked them to give him some space and air. Luckily he was ok just a few minutes afterward. According to him, it was the first time it happened to him and he had no idea what had caused the incident. Maybe it was because the room was a bit warm due to the malfunction of the air-conditioner. Maybe he suffered extreme panic attack for having to do presentation in front of an audience (he was just asked to start doing sales instead of technical support). Maybe he didn't get enough rest the day before. I don't know.

Moral of the story: Make sure you get enough rest before doing your presentation. And, if you suffers from panic attack, take a deep breath or ask for 5 minutes break before you reach your extreme panic level. Don't put hazard on yourself, especially if you are only an employee. Tak berbaloi!

A very busy weekend

Hubby touched down on Friday at about 5.15 pm and we went straight home. It was my birthday and I was so glad that he could make it home although for a short period only. No extraordinary birthday celebration, just cake cutting for all family members. Hubby was exhausted and complained of diarrhea all week long. Poor thing!

On Saturday, we got off from home at about 12noon and stopped by J*sco Bkt Raja because he needed to change his Thai Baht. The rate wasn't great so we shot off to L*w Y*tt Plaza to find my new phone. We got stuck for a while there to find the best bargain for my phone. Got a good one at a store, but we were asked to wait for 15 minutes to get the phone. After a hotdog and juices session, we went back to that store, only to find out that it was not there yet. We went up a level to survey the price of memory card and when we came back to the store, the phone was finally there (according to them ladies at the store). I was asked to pay first because it was "Cash And Carry." It was only then that we were informed that only the phone was original (not AP set) but the rest of the accessories were AP. No wonder they offered a cheaper price! Hubby wanted to cancel already, but the girl, seeing that we were about to go, gave a good price for the whole original set. Hubby refused to budge, but somehow I was a bit tolerant (not usually). To get the new original set, we needed to wait again for them to take the stock from Sg W*ng! Bl**dy H*ll! Hubby gave his peice of mind to the girl until she didn't dare to look at him. We should have gone in the first place. I was to be blamed..tsk..Too soft!

We finally got my phone at about 5.30pm. Rushed to McD Pandan Mewah to at least meet the birthday boy Afif and parents, but upon reaching there, the place had been cleaned up for another party. Too bad!

We started the journey to Hubby's hometown in J*sin immediately after that and reached there at about 9pm, where we headed straight to Hubby's Mak Ngah's house for a kenduri doa selamat because Pak Ngah and Mak Ngah had safely returned from Mekah for Hajj. I was in my blouse and pants (kes tak sempat tukar baju).. Buat malu den yo..

The next day, nothing much to do since Hubby was still suffering from diarrhea. Went to clinic and had a leisure time at kampung until it was time to go back. Had a pit stop at Mc Donalds Ayer Keroh to deliver a few ordered goods to a client and shot back to KL. Stopped by Hubby's brother's house in Puchong for a while. It has been a while since we met although I pass by his house literally every week..hehe..Grabbed a quick bite at a restaurant afterwards and headed straight home after that.

On Monday, Hubby went to his office to settle his visa application. Got his visa approved before lunch time. I went to my office to pickup some stuffs and later in the evening, we all gathered for a family dinner to celebrate my birthday and also Abah's birthday (our birthdays are only 6 days apart).

On Tuesday, Hubby went to his office after lunch at home (long time never taste my cooking what? hehe) to collect his flight tickets. Afterwards, he went to MidV*lley to change his foreign notes (Thai baht to RM and RM to Vietnam Dong) and became a Dong Millionaire..hehe.. He bought my birthday present there also- a Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera. Yay! After that he went for a teh tarik session with his mates from previous office and then came home to settle his packing.

We shot to the airport at about 6.30am the next morning because Hubby's flight was at 9.15am to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Reached airport at about 7.30am and went straight for check-in. Daniel and I waited for him to take off and witnessed the occassion from the "Anjung Menunggu" at the airport.

There you go! The details of our short-lived quality time as a family before we became a PJJ again. Hubby is scheduled to be there for a month at least, so couldn't wait for an OK to go there or for him to return!

The Birthday Party

We went to Batrisyia's birthday party yesterday. Had a wonderful time there with ol' friends from Uni. Found out that As is counting the days to deliver her second baby. Intan is expecting. Macam pakat-pakat je semua. Next year ramai la juniors yang Daniel boleh bully...kekeke...Oh ya..Cikgu Fara kita pun dengar khabar nak kena hitched very soon. Family arrangement lagi! Congrats, babe! She sure had all of us laughing most of the time during the party- just like good ol' days.

We stayed until after Maghrib because Cikgu Fara had to catch her bus back to Penang because she is supervising a session of STPM paper today. I came with Ling, so she dropped me off at Carr*four Subang where Daniel and I continued with our shopping. Overall tiring but enjoyable day.

Final Raya do

I had to babysit for my niece, Nur Dhiya Irdina today because my sister is working. Although I had done it a few times before, believe me, it was not that easy. That is why I am not thinking of having another baby for the time being...hehe... Dhiya requires so much attention that everytime I had to babysit for her, Daniel would be left on the mercy of anybody else around the house. And if there was nobody around, he would have to play on his own. Poor baby! But he would demand for my attention, too! And since he is not used to share his toys and stuffs with other babies, he would demand for whatever Dhiya touches. And when I rock baby Dhiya in his swing, he would climb into my laps. Macam-macam lagi la dia punya antics. Memang pandai nak jealous..hehe..

When my sister and parents finally came back, it was too late to attend to Melly's invitation already. Sorry Melly! Didn't know that the time was extended. Hubby segan nak pergi sebab dah past the schedule informed by Melly.

But we managed to go to the 2 final open houses on the last day of Syawal that night. First, we went to my SIL's house in Puchong. And I discovered that she was 5 months pregnant with her 5th child (but her first child passed away after a few months years ago because of some mishaps, I think). Bertambah lagilah cucu Nek Jah..hehe.. So, Daniel will be a taiko for his another 2 juniors whenever the family gathers in Jasin..keke..

After that, we went to Art's house in Semenyih. Beriya-ia betul memasak ni and there were so many leftovers that she packed some for us to bring home. We were among the last few guests who left her house. Daniel enjoyed walking around the house and manja-manja with Art and his brother- which was something very unusual...hehe..

Turned out that Art discovered of her pregnancy 2 days later, after expecting for quite some times. Congrats Art & Yaser.. Take care betul-betul and may the journey be smooth sailing. Amiiin....

Raya part 2

We went back to Jasin for the part 2 of our Raya last weekend. Sempatlah beraya ke rumah Hubby's relatives yang tak sempat kami visit masa raya part 1 hari tu. And we got the chance to meet M@n Tiger yang dah bertahun tak jumpa. Last jumpa masa sebelum grad uni tahun 2000 rasanya. He's happily married with 3 children now. And married to someone I recognize back from Uni days! She used to hang out with my housemate, that's why she looked so familiar. Tak sangka ko M@n Tiger..Senyap-senyap je ye! Anyway, we (Hubby & I) are still clueless on why people call him M@n Tiger.. Nak kata rupa tiger takde. Nak kata garang macam tiger pun tak tau la pulak...hehe.. Anyway, Daniel clicked instantly with their children. Something that was so unusual for our shy baby. We were amazed a.k.a hairan to bits! Siap masuk bilik, pergi dapur lagi. Tau-tau dah lepak kat atas sofa depan TV..hihi...We had a great time catching up and promised to meet again next time we go back to Jasin, InsyaAllah.

On Sunday, we stopped by Hubby's Grandma's house before heading to the hospital to visit his cousin who was under intensive care unit for viral infections to the brain. I didn't go to the unit because Daniel was not allowed to go there, but according to Hubby and his relatives, the condition was quite severe and he needed help to breathe. Pray that he gets better soon although I don't really know him.

On the way back, we stopped by Kot@ Damans@ra to attend Imtiyaz's 2nd birthday bash. Sorry we were late Nins, but the food was excellent and thanks a lot for the gift. Met with the other hot gucci mommas with their babies (and hot gucci Kak Wegra also..hehe..)and it was fun! Happy birthday Imtiyaz! May you have many, many more years of health and happiness with the TLC from your Mama and Babah!

Raya posting

I am safely back at home now after 4 days of vigorous travelling, alhamdulillah. Had to cut short the holiday because Hubby got an internal exam today at his office.

I didn't get a chance to eat any lemang this year. Ketupat, nasi himpit, berasak semua dapat rasa. Had been stuffing my face with food all these 4,5 days. Anyway, I had a bad tummy ache on the first day of Syawal. Maybe perut terkejut sebab tiba-tiba kena proses banyak makanan..hehe..Had bouts of diarrhea all day long..Dah la one time tu I really had to go but we were stuck in the traffic on the highway. Nasib baik dapat bertahan..hehe..

Anyway, my sister celebrated her birthday on the first day of Syawal this year. I baked her a cake (well two cakes actually sebab the first one tak jadi..hehe..) and put some cream and deco on top of it..I was so proud of myself.. Didn't get a chance to taste it but it looked pretty enough for a first timer.. Well, I baked cakes before but this was the first time I used cream to decorate. Was satisfied with the result and I resolve to bake more cakes and cookies after this..muehehehehe...Well, at least that will be my plan IF I am going to follow Hubby to his work location later.

We travelled back to Abah's hometown in Kulai, Johor on the noon of Raya. Myself, Hubby and Daniel travelled separately from the rest of the clan because we had to make a pit stop at Hubby's hometown, Jasin first. The next day, we went to visit relatives all over JB and we returned to Jasin on the third day of Raya. Spent the night there and came back home the next day (yesterday). We dropped by Mak's hometown in Alor Gajah on the way back to meet Nenek and my aunty's family. Sempat jugak pergi shopping while we were in Malacca and got myself a new handbag from Hubby..heheh!

All in all, a tiring journey but we had fun catching up with the relatives and enjoying the good food. Oh ya..Terlupa pulak..I sempat tempah another pair of baju kurung with my cousin on the third day of Raya..hehe.. I have it with me now tapi belum sempat guna lagi sebab belum beraya to friends' houses here pulak..keke..Tapi this year we didn't get to visit many, many relatives and friends because of the cut short holidays. Hopefully the Raya mood will come soon so we will have the Raya blast soon!

Eid Mubarak 1428H

Without even realizing it, Ramadhan flew past us and it's time for Syawal again. Tak rasa langsung! Seriously! Hehe.. This year I didn't feel as excited as before about celebrating Syawal. Shopping baju raya for baby Daniel pun last minute. Baju raya I and Hubby pun ala kadar je. Mungkin sebab our financial has been affected sebab clients tak bayar lagi debts. So takdela rasa beria-ia sangat nak celebrate. Hmmm..

Here's to a joyful occasion. Congratulations for successfully completing your Ramadhan and hope all the good deeds are accepted by the Almighty. And may all the good deeds be continued to all the following months (a note to myself). And I pray that we will all be able to meet the next Ramadhan and Syawal..Amiin...

Salam Aidilfitri to those reading this humble blog. Maaf Zahir Batin for all that I may have done wrong to any of you. Halalkan semuanya ya? Have a safe journey to wherever you are going and have a wonderful celebration!

Buka Puasa Do

I was supposed to have a Buka Puasa meet with old uni friends today, but Mak called in the morning to say that we have a family Buka Puasa Invitation from her acquaintance tonight also. Aiseh.. We had been planning the old friends' meet since last week but due to many were not able to make it last week, we had to postpone it to today. And now, I had a choice to make..Adus pening!

Anyway, told *ty that I will be joining Mak's invitation at Sher*ton Subang first, and later will join them at the restaurant in Shah Alam. That should solve the issue, and everybody would be satisfied. But, not before I got my emotions all worked out because of these comflicting meets. Was moody all day long.

We (Hubby, Daniel and I) arrived in Subang at about 6pm after collecting something from the office. We stopped by Carr*four to kill the time, and at about 7pm, we were ready to go. Called Abah, and he said they were just about to leave the house. WHAT? Anyway, the 3 of us went to Sher*ton first to wait for the rest of the family to arrive.

When we stepped into the ballroom where everyone had started breaking fast, we couldn't find the host nor the allocated table. I suspected that we were in the wrong room, so Hubby proceeded to ask one of the kitchen staffs. Didn't know whether he was the chef or what but he did wear this tall hat most chefs wear. Turned out that we were indeed in the wrong place. The guy was kind enough to guide us to the designated coffee house, but not before offering us two glasses of drinks for us to break fast and waited for us to finish our drinks before showing us the way. Such a kind soul!

Great food to feast on, but at about 8.15pm, we excused ourselves to attend the other do. Saw that *ty called me 2 times but I didn't hear them, so I returned her call but to no avail. Called the other girls at the do, but no one picked up their d*mned phones. Called them so many times! Rasa macam call to TV or radio station to enter some contests pulak. I worked up my emotions again, and since I didn't know the exact location of the restaurant of the meet, and after having a few rounds in Shah Alam city centre and failed to find the place, I called it quit.

Reached home, feeling lethargic and upset, I slept immediately as my head touched the pillow. And after about an hour, *rt called and said that they have just finished the meeting and apologize for not picking up my calls because she didn't hear them. Fine... I tried to make everybody happy but I failed due to the circustances..So it was out of my control and I couldn't do nothing about it. Well, there will be other meets, InsyaAllah kalau umur panjang, kan?
